Q-MAC VeTaRS (Vehicular Tactical Radio System)

Q-MAC VeTaRS (Vehicular Tactical Radio System)

The Q-MAC VeTaRS provides wheeled or tracked fighting platforms with reliable integrated communications. VeTaRS can be configured for use in all types of vehicles ranging from Heavy Armour to Light Utility Vehicles.

VeTaRS comprises of:

  • VeTaRS internal Digital Communications
  • Q-MAC Tactical VHF System
  • Q-MAC Tactical HF System
  • PRR Radio Connectivity
  • Crew Headset Helmet Systems
  • Data Systems
Q-MAC VeTaRS (Vehicular Tactical Radio System)

VeTaRS encompasses Q-MAC's three core strengths:

  • SECURE - Interfaces and controls the Q-MAC family of Frequency hopping radios.
  • SIMPLE TO USE - VeTaR is easy to configure, simple to use and requires no complex training of crew members.
  • LOW COST - By using Q-MAC's family of VHF and HF radios, your budget for vehicle fits can encompass more vehicles or support other critical systems onboard.

Master Control Station

The Master Control Station (MCS) is the heart of the Q-MAC VeTaRS system. It is based on a powerful RISC microprocessor and performs voice channel switching and routes the digital data packets between the crew stations in a ring network configuration for system resilience.

It provides operation and control of the onboard radio transceivers and any optional data modem interfacing. It allows full duplex intercom between the crew.

Onboard programming is password protected and is carried out by firmware download.

The MCS functionality includes:

  • Monitoring and control of up to eight radios
  • PTT, Transmit and Receive levels fully adjustable for other manufacturer's radio.
  • Up to 10 users can be connected to the system.
  • Set priority levels and access for the crew stations.
  • Up to 4 serial communication lines.
  • Connection to data terminals.
  • Wireless connection to Personal Role Radios (PRR)
  • External connection for 600 ohm 2 wire connectivity.

Commanders Station

The Commanders unit is a rugged interface unit for access to the VeTaRS system for system management. The unit's built-in digital signal processing and filtering ensure clear speech intelligibility. It enables the Commander to interrupt other crewmembers' transmissions should the commander key up the radio.

Crew Station

The Crew unit is a rugged interface unit for crew member access to the VeTaRS system. The unit's built-in digital signal processing and filtering ensure clear speech intelligibility. Each crew station can support a maximum of two crew members.

The Commander and Crew Station units have the following connectivity.

  • Harness connector.
  • Headset connector.
  • Second headset connector for dual-channel operation.
  • Serial communication port connector.

Q-MAC VHF-90M Tactical VHF Radio

The VHF-90M is a low band VHF transceiver designed for multirole tactical and security applications. It is a fully digital radio, highly secure with onboard encryption and frequency hopping.

In its vehicle configuration, the VHF-90M transceiver is installed in a Vehicle docking station (VDS).

The purpose of the VDS is to provide power to the VHF-90M Transceiver and to provide an interface to the VeTaRS. It also provides the interface to other sub systems. i.e. Antenna, Power sources, dedicated data terminals and other combat networks.

For unmanned vehicle applications, it also provides the interface to a field DTMF telephone wire (600 ohm 2 wire) to achieve remote control for up to 5km.

Q-MAC HF-90M Tactical HF Radio

The HF-90M is a rugged all-purpose HF 50w SSB transceiver, designed for long range applications.

In its Vehicle configuration, it is ideal for long range mobile communication in border patrol, defense and paramilitary applications. The transceiver and associated automatic tuning unit (ATU) are lightweight and compact, ideal for installation in the smallest of vehicles.

The system includes a 150w booster amplifier if necessary, increasing signal strength and range. With the addition of anti vibration mounts both the HF and VHF can be mounted within tracked vehicles.

Personal Role Radio (PRR) Connectivity

A dedicated unit provides the radio link to PRR radios within range of the vehicle. The unit can be configured for most manufacturers systems. Nominally operating on 2.4Ghz but can be programmed for other frequencies.

Data Systems

A variety of data terminals can be connected to the VeTaRS system. This can range from simple data terminals For basic text messaging to complex military computers handling full Battle Management software.
